- Open-air and Indoor Siren - You have a wide selection as to where to place your sirens at home although most people prefer fixing them in the attic vents, wall vents, under the eaves of the roofs, or a tall building side wall. You want them loud and noticeable, the more shocking the better. This has proven to be a good deterent in scaring away criminals who are attempting to break into your home.
You may also decide to install them above the closet or tall article of furniture, in the basement, and sleeping areas but remember when locating a siren to make sure that it will not be easily accessible to a criminal. Nevertheless, if it can readily be accessed, be sure that the unit has a built-in siren tamper device which will automatically activate in case someone tries to move the unit from the position where it is situated.
