A look at how playing cards can be much more enjoyable than watching TV or playing video games especially on a date!

It really is sad to think how much of our lives have been consumed by watching TV and time spent online. Of course internet dating is a great way to meet people and there are some great creative ideas for what to do on a date and there are many sites that have a list of these ideas. I was recently on a second date with a gal that I have been talking with over the last couple of months and during that time we found out that we were both huge fans of playing Crib. So on our second date we met at a local pub and brought a crib board and had a wonderful time. It had been years since I played and with a quick review of the rules before we met I realized how sad it was. Sad because I hadn't played for over 5 years and I realized very few of my friends knew how to play. Growing up playing cards at our cottage was something that kept us entertained for hours. I recall the adults had a fare bit of wine and always enjoying themselves. We didn't have a TV at the cottage so once it got dark and we weren't busy doing water activities cards and board games is what made the evenings so enjoyable. There are studies that show playing cards are extremely good for exercising your brain. Many scientists compare playing cards to reading a book or learning an instrument in how they benefit brain activity and health. All I know is that it's really nice to find something that is social, not TV, really fun and aside from the minor cost of a deck of cards and a cheap crib board this activity is basically free. Of course if you're enjoying a beer as I was well it will cost a little! My point is there are literally thousands of great card games and most of them are quite easy to learn. A deck of cards that should cost no more than $5 really is one of the best bangs for the buck in the gaming department. Compare that to the cost of a video gaming system and the games and there really is no comparison. So I really do encourage you to start playing cards, whether you are married or have a sibling or parent to play with or maybe like me you want to ask the person you are talking with on a internet dating site if they like to play.
